The Save More Kids mission to “cultivate young minds and empower youth to establish sustainable resources that will give the next generation of Liberians an opportunity to lead a more prosperous future” has come full circle. Thanks to you, our generous supporters, we have a very special announcement! Peter Sammie, who was raised at Christ Children’s Home (CCH) and is now a high school graduate, is one of 900 applicants out of 12,000 candidates for Pepperdine University to be admitted to this prestigious institution! We are so proud of Peter and his truly remarkable journey in life, and this is just the beginning. Your support of SMK has been amazing, inspiring, and impactful. When Peter was a small child, his parents were killed. He became a child laborer; abandoned, undernourished, parentless, and homeless. After his arrival at CCH, he began his education. He received three meals a day, a clean and safe to live, education, and most important, the love of his adoptive parents and others at Save More Kids. Peter dove into his school work, and soon emerged as an outstanding student. He graduated from St. Martin’s High School as one of the top scholars, vice president of his class, and awarded the highest recommendations based on his character, leadership, and work ethic. Thanks to you and other generous Save More Kids friends and family, Peter evolved from being a hungry and sad little boy, to a happy, college-bound adult!

Regardless of his successes, Peter never forgot that both of his parents were taken from him in acts of violence that remained unpunished. Their killers were never sought after, and police did little to seek justice. As Peter grew up, he came to realize that his purpose in life was to gain higher education in order to study the law and become an attorney, giving him the tools he needs to help his homeland to improve its justice system, security, and the well-being of the people of Liberia.
Peter is hard at work applying for scholarships to fund his education, but he will need more financial support to be able to study at Pepperdine University. We ask you to please consider contributing to the Peter Sammie Education Fund as well as sharing his story with your friends, family, and network, to assist him in reaching this goal. |
