Greetings to our fellow Sister Mentors! We want to first say THANK YOU for your interest in the Save More Kids Period Project. Save More Kids (SMK) launched The Period Project to provide monthly health seminars, menstrual pads, and care packages to girls & young women living at the CCH Orphanage and its surrounding communities in Liberia. In addition to providing hygienic products for young women, the Period Project serves as a critical peer support group where women bond to address sensitive and essential needs; thereby encouraging a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere for women empowerment.

Our long-term goal of this project is to implement vocational training and financial empowerment
programs designed to create opportunities for young women to become self-sufficient and contribute to the local economy.

​“Everyday I use a washcloth during my period because I cannot afford pads. I dread this time of the month because of the humiliation I have to face. I often feel sores and bruises from the roughness of the cloth. Sometimes I've gotten infections from using the damp cloth especially during the raining season when it takes longer for the cloth to dry.

Join Our Team!

Hey there! My name is Bennetta Thomas and I am the Period Project Coordinator! I am so glad that you are considering joining my team, so that I can share my passion for education and impact with you. I am looking for women who are passionate about health, education, and business leadership so that we can form a small, powerful team of change-makers.

​Our Sister Volunteer will have the opportunity to engage with women across various regions domestically and across the globe in contributing to the mission of the Period Project. Our emphasis is to:

• Empower the WHOLE Woman to Self Sufficiency
• Break the Cycle of Poverty
• Build Sustainable Fundraising and Partnerships
• Increase Health and Financial Literacy and Responsibility Through our Monthly Educational Seminar

​Key Responsibilities

• Engage in monthly meetings to develop the Period Project Educational Seminars.
• Co-lead one of our Period Project arms (Educational Seminars, Fundraising/Sponsorship, International Retreat).
• Virtually connect and bond with a Sister in Liberia to share experiences and plan for the future.
• Engage in Period Project planning and development with a capstone retreat to Liberia to initiate trainings and seminars with our partners on-the-ground.

Team Commitment
Our Team works best in a casual manner; our key goal is simply to support and inspire the young women of Liberia, and I know that we can do that best when we do that with each-other. As team leader, I can set some expectations for how we can function best:

• Monthly, 2-hour long video meetings to plan and develop seminar materials.
• Independent research and content creation for project development.
• Personal outreach for fundraising and campaigning.
• WhatsApp group texting for team communications and updates.

Long Term Outcomes
Our long-term goal of this project is to implement vocational training and financial empowerment programs designed to create opportunities for young women to become self-sufficient and contribute to the local economy.

Team members will have the opportunity to tap into their unique creativity to develop and lead educational seminars that will empower our sisters on our team and abroad. Secondly, team members will have the opportunity to have fun strategizing fundraisers to increase the Period Project's impact. Lastly, team members will have the opportunity to plan, travel and join our sisters abroad for an international Witness Experience retreat in Monrovia, Liberia.

​Our sustainer partners are critical to maintaining our monthly seminars! These classes are key to the success of local young women and girls. The Period Project to provide monthly health seminars, menstrual pads, and care packages to girls & young women living at CCH and the surrounding communities in Liberia. Period Project Witness Experience
Our Witness Experience is an international retreat to meet our fellow sisters in the West African region of Monrovia, Liberia. During this time, we bond, fellowship, and plan for the new year Period Project year with our sisters onsite.

Our long term goal is for our Empowerment Partners to invest in a woman or group of women to start a small business of their own in order to financially empower her to sustain her family.
